I’m Robert Teeling, a self-taught wildlife artist originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, now living in County Wicklow, Ireland. My art is a lifelong response to my deep love and respect for animals and nature. I strive to create work that captures more than just the likeness of a subject—I want to convey its soul, its stillness, its tension, its untold story.

Working mainly in oils and acrylics, I layer colour and texture to build mood and realism while retaining an expressive quality. My style falls somewhere between realism and impressionism, with close attention to light, atmosphere, and the emotional presence of the animals I paint.

Over the years, I’ve been proud to see my work recognised on an international level—most notably as a finalist in the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s “Wildlife Artist of the Year” 2015 and 2017, and the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year competitions. My work has been featured in International Artist Magazine and exhibited widely, with paintings now in collections across Europe, the U.S., Australia, and beyond.

For me, art is both a celebration and a call to action—a way of encouraging connection to wildlife and promoting conservation through visual storytelling.
